Allison Croghan is the Social Media Anchor and Midday Meteorologist on Fox 13 News. After graduating with a journalism degree from the University of Mississippi, Allison studied atmospheric science through Mississippi State University’s Distance Meteorology Program.'
Growing up in the St. Louis, Missouri, severe weather was not uncommon. Allison’s first television news job was in Joplin, Missouri, where she covered the aftermath of one of the deadliest tornadoes in America’s history.
While Allison certainly has a passion for weather, she loves sports as well. In college, one of her favorite internships was at ESPN in Connecticut. Fun fact: her first time reporting on live television was during an Ole Miss basketball game on ESPNU.
Her career has taken her across the country, but she’s happy she landed at Fox 13 in June of 2012. When Allison isn’t working, she’s busy hiking, reading, practicing yoga, or attending sporting events.
Founded in 1960, the Humane Society of Utah (HSU) has always fostered an atmosphere of love, compassion and respect for Utah’s pets and is dedicated to the elimination of pain, fear and suffering in all animals. The HSU works hard to ensure that every healthy and treatable pet that enters our facility will be placed into a loving home. HSU is an open-admissions shelter, meaning that our doors are always open for any animal that we can legally accept. Furthermore, there is no set limit on the length of time an animal may remain in our adoption program. In 2016, we saved 11,019 lives and we maintained no-kill statistics for both cats and dogs for the second year in a row. In 2017, we will continue to focus on our education-focused adoption process, positive image promotion of shelter pets, and many other life-saving programs.
Our many programs include: affordable spay/neuter and vaccination services to the community; transfer and rescue of at-risk pets from other shelters around the state; education of school-aged children and teens across the Wasatch Front about the humane treatment of animals and the homeless pet population; cruelty investigations of animal abuse and neglect around the state; and the promotion of legislation and ordinances that will enhance Utah’s standing in the country.
